North Dakota Flooding

Here’s the latest on the flood conditions. Officials in Fargo plan to build the dikes a foot higher than planned, after the National Weather Service predicted the Red River would rise to 41 feet. Mayor Dennis Walaker says that is “uncharted territory.” Officials in Fargo and neighboring Moorhead, Minn., are also asking for more volunteers. Meanwhile the Minnesota Department of Transportation is urging motorists to check on road conditions before traveling to areas where there might be flooding. High water has prompted several road closures in western Minnesota. Motorists can call 511 to check road status.  The Salvation Army is on the scene with their ministry, plus our sister station has more info for volunteers at www.kfnw.org. Volunteers can also call the volunteer hot line at (701) 476-4000 to see where they are needed most.
