You can do it — except that you’ll also have to boast about spending the last few hours of 2008 in front of a computer screen or mobile device with Internet access. Christmas in Heaven

Christmas can be overwhelming when you have lost a loved one. Tears can be healing to our hearts and souls. This year might be very hard for you. I hope that this poem may bring you some comfort. Let the tears come……….it really is ok.

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s
house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare
a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again,
and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
~John 14:1-3~

Christmas in Heaven

I see the countless Christmas Trees around the world below,
with tiny lights, like heaven’s stars, reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away that tear,
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear, but
the sounds of music can’t compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,
for it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me. I see the pain inside your heart,
but I am not so far away. We really aren’t apart. So be happy for me dear ones. You know I hold you dear,
and be glad I’m spending Christmas, with Jesus Christ this year.
I send you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above.
I send you each a memory, of my undying love.
After all “Love” is the gift, more precious than pure gold.
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do,
for I can’t count the blessing or love he has for each of you.
So, have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear.
Remember, I’m spending Christmas, with Jesus Christ this year.

The Goodman Group, which manages the complex, has also created a fund for the victims. And already $100,000 has been raised. If you you’d like to donate to that fund, contact the Goodman Group at (952) 361-8000.

The Meaning of the 12 Days of Christmas

People often think of the twelve days of Christmas as the days preceeding the festival. Actually, Christmas is a season of the Christian year that begins December 25 and lasts until January 6th – the day of Epiphany – when the church celebrates the revelation of Christ as the light of the world and recalls the journey of the magi.

From 1558 until 1829 people in England were not allowed to practice their faith openly. It was during this era that someone wrote ‘The Twelve Days Of Christmas’ as a kind of secret catechism that could be sung in public without risk of persecution. The song has two levels of interpretation: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of the church. Each element in the carol is a code word for a religious reality.

1. The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus Christ.

2. The two turtledoves are the Old and New Testaments.

3. Three french hens stand for faith, hope and love.

4. The four calling birds are the four Gospels.

5. The five gold rings recall the Torah (Law) the first five books of the Old Testament.

6. The six geese of laying stand for the six days of creation.

7. Seven swans a swimming represent the sevenfold gifts of the Spirit.

8. The eight maids a milking are the eight Beatitudes.

9. Nine ladies dancing are the nine fruits of the Spirit (Gal.5).

10. The ten lords a leaping are the Ten Commandments.

11. Eleven pipers piping stand for the eleven faithful diciples.

12. Twelve drummers drumming symbolize the twelve points of belief in the Apostles’ Creed.

There you have it…the hidden meaning of the Twelve Days Of Christmas and the secret behind the song. I had never heard this before, and I thought maybe alot of you haven’t either. Now the song has so much more meaning when I do hear it.

Pam’s Pals – Animal Humane Society

Today’s Pam’s Pal is Contessa, a four-year-old chocolate Labrador retriever mix from Animal Humane Society’s (AHS) Buffalo facility.

Once you meet Contessa, you’ll never want to let her go. She’s fun, energetic, full of life and has proven she can overcome any obstacle. When she was brought to AHS it was apparent that she had suffered injuries in her past—her rear right leg was deformed and she walked with a limp. X-rays were taken and they showed that she had healed bone fractures in the leg and in her hips. However, she gets around quite well and, at times, you can’t tell she suffered any injuries.

Contessa may need additional treatment as she grows older. For that reason, AHS is looking for an exceptional owner who will take her into his or her home with the knowledge that she’ll need a little more attention than other dogs; however, the reward will be ten-fold. Contessa is not shy with her affection and has the spirit of a puppy. She’s very curious and appears to see only the bright side of life.

AHS is able to care for animals like Contessa get the care they need and find the right home because of the generous support of the community and funds raised at their annual events. Their next event is the All Things Big and Small Book Sale. Now in its 14th year, the sale features an enormous selection of books, CDs, DVDs, and yes, even VHS tapes and vinyl records—all at competitive prices (most from $1-3). All proceeds benefit AHS.

If you’d prefer to donate to the event rather than shop it, AHS is gladly accepting donations of books at any of their five facilities through January 23. No encyclopedia sets, Reader’s Digest condensed books or textbooks please.

To learn more about the book sale and how you can give Contessa a life-long home, please call 763-522-4325 or visit www.animalhumanesociety.org.

The Meaning of the Snowflake

The Meaning of the Snowflake

             By Holly Gerth

Every new snowflake comes to the earth
as a picture of our Saviour’s birth
because they are sent from up above
and remind us of God’s care and love.

Each one is so intricate and small
because Christ sees the details of us all,
and just as two are never the same
the Lord knows and calls us each by name.

Snowflakes gently cover the world in white
and hide what’s unlovely from our sight,
showing us how He covers our sin
and gives us His grace when we come to Him.

So may every snowflake bring Christ to mind
and in every bit of white may you find
a reason to celebrate anew
and a reminder of His love for you.
