This Friday, April 16th, go see the story of Minnesota’s own Terry Hitchcock on the big screen.  The movie is called “My Run, the Story of Five Million Footsteps.”  It is based on Terry’s true story of struggle and triumph as a single parent.  He tragically lost his wife to breast cancer and struggled to raise three children on his own.  To bring attention to the difficult situation of single parents, Terry decided to run 75 consecutive marathons in 75 consecutive days.

The movie will premier on two screens at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival Friday at 7:15 and 7:30.  Find out more at www.mspfilmfest.org.

Mesha

Mesha is a 7-year-old Labrador Retriever. She is a very sweet, well-mannered dog who knows how to “sit,” “down,” and “come.” In her previous home, she was kept outside and free-fed, which resulted in her being quite overweight. She needs someone who’s willing to help her get back to a healthy weight by controlling her food and getting her plenty of exercise. That shouldn’t be too hard because Mesha loves taking walks and running around outside. If you have a fenced in yard or like being active outdoors, she will be a great companion for you! She does well with kids, but because of her size she should go to a home without really small children. She also lived with a small dog and did very well with it despite their size difference. She’s a gentle giant!

David shared a story he wrote in 4th grade on the air.  It touched quite a few people.  We thought we’d share the whole thing with you, so here is The Genie and I.

One day I was walking home from school and I thought I might take a short cut home so I went down a couple of alleys. I bumped into my friends and I talked with them for awhile.  Then I went on my way.

In the last alley I kicked this can and all of a sudden poof this genie appeared with psychedelic bell bottoms and a psychedelic shirt. The genie said that I had 3 wishes and he told me I could think about  it over night.

When I woke up in the morning, I  kicked the can and poof,  the Genie was taking a bath and he said, “don’t bug me now I’m taking a bath…. can’t a man get any hospitality around here.”

At noon I kicked it again.  He said, “I’m eating lunch…got to be right on time you know.”

I kicked the can about five hours later, and poof the Genie appeared and said, “I’m eating dinner, can’t a man get a decent meal around here, Man A Live!”

I kicked the can again just before I went to bed and I said, “now can I ask you?” He said, “yes but under one condition, without being greedy.”  I said “ok, here are my wishes.  I would like  our house remodeled for the whole family.  Next I would like a mini bike.  And last, I wish more people could believe in Christ like I do.”
